Whether it is mentoring an elementary student or planning the Miss Grandview pageant at the local senior center, Alpha Chi's love to lend a helping hand.

We support our national philanthropy, the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, which helps combat domestic abuse and violence throughout the nation. Locally, we maintain the effort by pledging over 500 hours to the domestic violence shelter in Athens. We also raised money to build a playground for the children at the shelter.

Each fall, Alpha Chi holds a Flag Football tournament at the intermural fields, gaining support from fraternities and other UGA students alike, while also raising money and awareness to combat domestic abuse.

Each spring, Beta Sigma hosts their annual silent auction and golf tournament weekend. Parents, alumnae and friends are all invited to a night of dinner and dancing. Last year's philanthropy dinner was held in downtown Athens and included live music by one of our very own Alpha Chi sisters, while friends and family bid on items that included everything from homemade goods to signed sports paraphernalia. The Alpha Chi Golf Tournament tees off the next morning at the Georgia Club. Through our efforts, we raised over $30,000 for Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.

Throughout the year, Alpha Chi's participate in other organizations' philanthropies to raise money for the numerous local and national charities. Alpha Chi Omega's won first place in Delta Tau Delta's Christmas challenge for the past four years and 2006 Derby Days. We also participated and came in 1st place in Choral Cup in 2008, an a capella competition that raised money for Relay for Life.

The giving spirit of Alpha Chi Omega extends far beyond the Greek community. Our sisters devote hundreds of hours to special causes around campus and the community. Whether they are organizing an event to promote ending local poverty, giving extra attention to premature babies, tutoring underprivileged Clarke County students or walking miles to raise money for cancer research, Alpha Chi's enthusiastically give back to their community and support their fellow students.
