Graceful, playful and hard, the gray whale is a beloved icon of the Pacific coastline. The whales’ annual migration from the waters off Alaska to Baja California is one particular of the longest carried out by any mammal, a journey that has took place for 1000’s of decades.
But in the last pair of years, much less grey whales have produced the vacation. These outstanding giants are dying in quantities unseen in many years. Nobody understands exactly why, but there are some clues.
